Peace be upon you,

So what am I doing with all the extra time I am getting by sleeping less. Well not much really, because since I am still in the mode of adaption so I feel kind of lagged in the late night hours. I have been reading much and trying to do most of the work during the day. The set back during the day time is that there are too many people who wants to indulge into talking stuff which has no importance what so ever, nor to them nor to me.

People love complaining and I can’t just say no but I am trying to give people the idea that I am not really interested but its hard. May God make their affairs easy for them and save me from saying anything to anyone which might not be beneficial for them.

At night although I am alone, well for more than half of the time anyways, I can start doing things without distractions. Which I will soon but as of now i feel little fatigue so I can’t really start or work on any of my projects. For now I am just letting my body sort of adapt to the changes and get use to this new schedule and not sleep in after my naps.

Sleeping on the floor September 25, 2007

Peace be upon you,

So last night was my first night sleep on the floor, sleeping on my back. As I wrote in the previous entry I was going to try this out and see how this works out. Well last night it was not too good because the thing is there is only very little space to turn so in case I wanted to turn it was really hard which was a positive to me because I wanted to force sleeping on my back. In the morning I did manage to turn because I could not take it anymore, but wasn’t much help because when you are laying in any other position on the floor you posture is not aligned so you neck might start hurting.

Learning all that from yesterday’s lesson I decided to stay on my back and, after about a 35 minutes of nap my back felt great. It felt as if someone was massaging me the whole time.

This is the lay out I am using for sleeping.  __@___________===_____

on the bottom is a yoga mat, the @ represents a rolled up towel for neck support and, the === represent a soft pillow under the knees to relax the nerves. Oh and when it get a little cold I do have a comforter too. Thank God its working out pretty good so far let see how it turns out in a couple of days.

Sleeping is going great, last night I went to bed around 1 am and got at at 5am and took and nap later at 8am for about 2 hours (not good) over slept. But it was ok i guess because I got really good rem sleep and had a dream so this shows my body was very relaxed. I took another nap at 10:00pm until 10:30 and now it is almost 1:00 Am so I am going to do my night prayers and than head to bed God willing.

Best wishes.

Peace be with you,

Today it was really hard getting up the fact that I went to sleep at 1:30, and plus yesterday I was thinking if I am going to adapt to my new sleeping style; might as well go all in. So I took my bed apart and took the mattress out and me an nice comfortable yoga mat. Now I am sleeping on the floor, why you ask ?

WHY YOU SHOULD SLEEP ON YOUR BACK

What you need to do is sleep in a position that duplicates the kind of posture that you want to have during the day: shoulders back, head straight. Your ears should be in alignment with your shoulders, which should be in alignment with your elbows, which should be in alignment with your hip, knee and down through your ankle.

Obviously, the only way to maintain this positioning is on your back. Sleeping on your back represents a neutral posture; it represents a very straight posture that ensures that your body stays in alignment. If you can keep your body in alignment, it won’t stretch or tighten up while you sleep.

A lot of people wake up with stiff necks, with their chests kind of tight and sore. Maybe their backs ache a little bit. The reason: They sleep all curled up, which causes their neck, back and shoulder muscles to stretch and tighten up. (more.., From Ezine articles)

How you ask?

  • Lie on your side in the fetal position with your knees bent and a pillow tucked between your legs. This will take the most stress off your back.
  • If you must sleep on your back, prop a big, fluffy pillow under your knees to reduce the pressure on the sciatic nerve in your lower back.
  • Use a small pillow or a rolled-up towel under your neck as long as it doesn’t push your chin too far forward.
  • Don’t sleep on your stomach. Sleeping facedown can exaggerate the arch at the base of your spine and cause strain. Our advice? Sew or tape a tennis ball to the front of your nightgown or nightshirt. We guarantee your stomach-sleeping days will be over. (Ezine Articles)

There was not much change in my sleep, and I did not stay on my back all night, i sorta turned on the side for about half hour so thats ok. Today it was really tuff getting out and even more tuff staying up, but thank God I made it. I guess I didn’t want to miss the sunrise.

So now I think with 4 hours of sleep and at least two 30 min naps I should be good, it would take me a couple of days to get use to this but I think my body will soon adapt. As long as I keep my self disciplined I should be good to go, and the best thing that is helping me much is ramadan.

I am way too excited and have a lot of things plan so I am gona go about my day will catch up later :P …..

best wishes,
